Intellectual Property
US Intellectual Property (IP) law is a core practice at Thorelli. Our attorneys have decades of hands-on experience with patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets. We are active in the local IP community as speakers and adjunct professors of IP law. We are a participating member in the IP externship program for a local law school in Chicago. We are admitted to practice in the US Patent and Trademark Office. We can help you at all phases of the IP journey from identifying your protectable IP, to obtaining registrations, to developing licensing programs, to negotiating IP purchases and sales, to enforcement in litigation. Whatever your IP need, we’ve been there before.
In a new business, intellectual property is a tangible asset that demonstrates to others the novelty of your business model and your ability to protect a market segment or product line from copycat competitors. In an established business, a properly curated portfolio of IP assets and the goodwill associated with them can be a significant component of the total market value of the business. We can assist you in making wise choices as you develop your unique IP.
